Hello everybody, this time from Gili Air. For the past week,
this island has been home to us and the time spent over here was pretty
awesome. Everything is going well, weather is still beautiful, I rarely
wear t-shirts, and on top of that, we spent the first days of this year in this
beautiful place doing some great stuff every day. But let’s start from the beginning.
Last hours of 2019, we spent at this Island View spot, where
we also spent the night. Lovely place just by the beach with nice little bungalows,
located on the sunset side of the island. So it was really just dipping in the sea,
sipping on cocktails, eating, and watching the sun go down. Later on that
evening, we dressed up (well, for me it meant that instead of swim shorts, I
wore some regular shorts and I also put on a t-shirt for a change), and went to
find a suiting place to kick of the new year. We started at this beach bar with
some live music and then moved to Lucky’s – from what I’ve understood a pretty notorious party spot on the island.
The thing is, since Gili Air feels generally even less crowded than Gili T (which
is not really crowded to begin with), there’s
really no sense of any crazy partying going on over here. I mean, the music was
there, the bars were ready, people were around, but the vibe was a bit more
chilled. Apart from drinks, it is extremely easy to get your hands on basically anything you can use to spice up your evening. And these things are provided by uniformed bar staff. It’s a bit
of an alternative reality here. Anyways, we actually spent most of the night sank into bean bags on the beach talking, watching fireworks, stars, breathing the sea
air and smoking cigarillos. Pretty cool way to kick things off.
The following days were all about relaxing and yoga. Quite
some time ago, my gf came up with this idea of trying acroyoga together. Now,
for those who don’t know, it’s basically yoga performed in a
couple with some acrobatic elements incorporated - all about flexibility and balance. Never tried it before but
since I am into physical activity, since properly stretching my body is one of
the things I should do way more, and since it generally seems like a pretty
cool thing to do in a couple, I was obviously in.
So on 1st, we checked in at Slow Spa Villas for
this 4 days program, which we eventually extended by additional day. The
program usually consisted of 1-2 yoga classes per day, some massage treatments,
and most importantly acroyoga sessions. They initially planned only 1 for us but we
ended up getting 4. And man, it is pretty amazing. For one, whatever I did these days, was doing wonders on my legs. My hamstrings’
flexibility is shit and this is like the best stretch you could ever get. And
the whole thing is just so rewarding. Being the base, while your partner flying
on top of you... Even with the basic poses and flows between them. After two
sessions, you do stuff you had no idea you would be capable of. It is shaky, it
takes trust, it takes confidence, but it feels amazing. If we manage to keep it
up, I really think it might be of my new favorite things to do. Also, it is a
solid workout – after an hour of that, your
mat is soaking in your sweat. Overall a great experience – can’t wait
to do more of that (the gf managed to squeeze her nerves a bit so it might take
a minute but we’ll be back on in no
time). Our accommodation was private so you could literally walk around naked all day
long, it had a big garden, a pool and super comfy bed. Talk about a great start
of a year.
Other than that, we’ve been
eating quite moderately (in my case, mostly tempeh, veggies and fruits), we’ve visited one pretty awesome veggie
restaurant and we’ve watched the first three Twilight
movies. Because that’s
apparently what happens in relationships at some point. I’m not
gonna spend much time on reviewing those, but that main girl is the most
annoying, self-centered, ignorant piece of shit I’ve ever
seen in a movie. And she is capable of like 2 face expressions which does not make her more lovable neither. Got like 10 more Twilight
movies ahead of me (or how many they've managed to shoot) so I’m on
the edge of my chair here. Can’t wait
to see this whole shit unfold. We’ve also
made our first attempts on video blogging. Also an idea we’ve been playing around with for a
while. Not sure if anything solid comes out of it but the first pieces of raw
material seem quite entertaining (at least to me).

And that’s about
it. We’ve got like 2 more hours on
Gili Air and then we’re
heading back to Gili T. I hope your 2020 is going awesome so far. Sending
positive energy to all you fuckers. One!
Highlights:
- In Twilight, Vampires don’t burn on sun. Also, everyone else is pretty likable – apart from the lead duo.
- Acroyoga.
- Local lady we’ve been getting dinners from for the past couple of days. Tempeh, tofu, veggies, spicy sauce. The Indonesian food as I remember it.
