Semester 11 Chapter XXVI: Game Over

Okay, fuck this shit. FUCK IT, FUCK IT, FUCK IT. Fuck this world, fuck it all. Fuck Putin. This shit breaks my heart. Don’t want to sound dramatic but at this point we have abundance of facts supporting the notion that we do indeed live in the very last days. On top of money-hungry-over-dead-bodies capitalism, on top of fuck-environment attitude we have adopted over the past decades, on top of the widening gap between rich and poor that has gotten completely out of control… On top of global pandemic… We have a war going on now. And I don’t wanna go to deep into it because there’s no sense in doing that. It’s sad, it’s depressing, it’s dark and there’s no way this shit ends well. My heart goes out to Ukraine and to all the people who have died for no motherfucking reason. My hearts goes out to my Ukrainian and my Russian friends and students… Shit, I just hope, y’all alright. There’s nothing left to say here. Shit is beyond fucked up and it fucks me up. And one more time right here… FUCK PUTIN! What the fuck… What the actual fuck…

Okay, breathe in, breathe out… Don’t go out just yet… Put some rap on, vibe it out, don’t get cynical, stay on your love everybody vegan shit… Gotta say tho… Shit’s getting harder each fucking passing day…

I feel like ever since the attacks started, I’ve been trying to do shit just to keep my mind off the whole situation. So yeah, I’ve been out couple of times meeting some of my friends, playing pool and having some drinks, I’ve been diving, I’ve been checking out some new stuff on Netflix… But honestly, you can’t really silence all the noise.

I had a chance to do some wreck diving with my main center and I’ve also been contacted by the center I did my divemaster and IDC with when I first came to Tenerife. Which is interesting because I actually hadn’t been in touch with them at all. Anyways, they ask me to do do some diving and since I had time I did. Did a DSD in Abades with this girl, her dad and grandpa and then some Advanced Course dives in Alcala.

I mean, the life hasn’t been bad here but keeping your mind in peace is becoming nearly impossible. All the love to Ukraine, all the love to those who provide support and help. One!

Semester 11 Chapter XXV: Pumping Them Brakes

Yo, what’s good, what’s bad, whose fault, who cares… Another week has passed and I’m back on my bullshit. Matterfact, I’ve been real deep on my shit this past week. After like a month of constant social activity, I dived deep into solitude and did some proper recharging. Since I felt like dipping into some H-town underground hip-hop, this blog’s soundtrack is the new Jay’ton and his album Houstonathon. Shit slaps.

Okay so last week. I did quite a lot of diving which was extremely enjoyable. On Tuesday we went to Alcala and shit was fucking awesome. Alcala is a lovely site but the visibility can be a bitch up there. We were in luck tho. One of the dives when you see clearly and you just enjoy shit. The next two days was first boat diving I had done with the center I dive for the most these days. They do have their own boat so I drove the squad to the port in Las Galletas and we took it from there. I was new at some of these sites but I totally nailed it. Great dives, great vibes… Looking forwards to some more open ocean days. On Saturday, I did a fun dive at Montana Amarilla with this Venezuelan dude. Since he was a decent diver and it was only the two of us, we took it real slow, spent almost an hour down there and exited the water smiling. Good stuff. And then we got today. I took all the interns and one more guy to Tabaiba to do the first half of wreck specialty course. And again… Shit went beautiful. I’m pretty sure I’ve said it before but I fucking love this shit. I love diving on the regular, I love the energy, it does feel like I have found the sweet spot for the time being.

Outside of diving, I retreated back into my zone tho. I watched the whole Euphoria TV series which is so fucking good, it sometimes took me a minute to digest it. Some real heavy shit right there. And it hits quite close to home too. I also finished a book I’d been reading for ages and checked the first episode of the Kayne documentary. The guy is a piece of shit (and his ongoing divorce only underscores that) but you got give it to him… He always knew he’s gonna be this big… Even when nobody really followed. Watching fucking execs ignoring him while that motherfucker plays All Falls Down right into their face is just crazy.

I got back into the world on Friday when I met with my diver friend for some wine in 33 Vueltas. On Saturday, I drove to San Eugenio to do a beer with another friend of mine. Nice hangouts. Outside of that it’s been really just workouts, music, walks by myself and figuring out my next tattoos. And teaching. Yeah, a lot of that. Good amount of busy. And I totally didn’t do any pictures. Shit happens, right? Gonna do some next week for sure. One!

Semester 11 Chapter XXIV: Bitcoin

What’s good. Sunday evening, new Snoop Dogg in the headphones, some g-funk vibes in my room. Shit’s legit. Wanna send a shout out to everybody out there fighting the good fight. Small actions matter, being a real mothefucker matters, reading the room matters, being humble and respectful matters. With that said, let’s get down to the shits…

My dad was on the island till Thursday so I spent quite a lot of time with them. Dinners, beers, car rides… On Tuesday I moved them out of their apartment and to their friend’s villa up above Los Gigantes. I spent the last evening with them on Wednesday over there. I was happy to hear that they enjoyed their stay and me and my Punto (which has been nicknamed Pluto by divemaster interns from the shop I work for) had a lot to do with it.

I also saw a friend up in Adeje one night, I went out with a diver friend staying in San Eugenio on Thursday, I spent one afternoon with my UK friend (as she left this week too), I went for some pool games to 33 Vueltas on a hike to Aldea Blanca with the inters from my main shop… Been busy.

The highlight was Saturday tho. I went to this guerrilla psytrance party. Old school shit. You gotta find a plug for that, you register yourself, you get the location on the day and then you just get your ass over there. Me and my diver friend drove up to El Escobonal. We parked the car down the hill and then walked about 1km up to the venue. Cool spot, some neon lights and installation, nice crowd, small bar and “whatever-you-want-we-got-you” thing going on. I was in my fucking zone. Hadn’t danced in like 2 years and boy, I spent like 3 hours doing just that. Unfortunately, my friend fucked up colossally and got herself into some work on Sunday. So it was crystal clear from the beginning that we cannot pull an all-nighter. Which would have been fine if the party sucked… I didn’t so the situation sucked real bad. I got us back around 4am and now I know… I know that there are raves on the island totally compatible with my frequency, I know that unless people coming with me go all in, they’re not coming, and I know I’m totally attending the next one no matter what. Sending major love to the organizers. You guys rock.

I dived only once last week. In Las Eras, two fun dives. Just me, the interns and one paying customer who was a Rescue. In other words, super easy job. We all enjoyed the whole shit. More dives like this! I’m already booked for at least four days for the next week so shit’s gonna get better. I am looking forward to this. Teaching has been going well too. Got a slight raise with the school I work for the most, might get some new students. Things are going.

Whole lotta new music is out so I’m trying to catch up with everything. I’m also cooling off after all that socializing. I spent one morning just walking around the hills by myself and I wanna do more of that next week. Some fucking me time! I’ve been in touch with some of my people too and I want to send a huge ball of love Shanghai. You know what it is. Shout out to all my readers. One!

Semester 11 Chapter XXIII: No Slowing Down

What’s up! Monday morning, fresh cup of coffee in front of me, new 2 Chainz on deck, calima still wilding outside the window, I’ve just finished some Duolingo classes and I’m ready for the new week. Hope y’all doing well too!

So what has happened last week. First of all, I’ve been driving around the island like fucking crazy. I took my pops and his partner to Abades, Santa Cruz, Alcala, Las Galletas and god know where else. Been using basically every single moment to show these guys around. We’ve had a whole bunch of meals together along with some beers and shit. At one point, my diver friend joined too. Overall, good vibes.

I’m still on the roll when it comes to socializing. If it’s not my dad, it’s some of my friends. Been out with this vegan dude who dives at another dive center and some of his peers. We went to this bar in Los Cristianos and it ended up being a pretty good hangout. We’ll do more of those in the future. I’ve also caught up with one of the Czech friends I have on the island yesterday. I’m still far behind with all the people I’d like to see but hey… At least shit’s happening.

Diving still seems to be pretty slow on the island. Eventually, I got 4 diving days last week tho. I did an Open Water Course with this UK girl and I turned two people into Rescue Divers over the weekend. Turns out my investment into another year of PADI membership is kinda paying off. Could have dropped SSI tho. Oh well. The certs are stacking up! And I still get cool jobs. Yesterday, we almost caused a heart attack to some bystanders at the beach. Some guys spotted our interns demonstrating water exit and CPR and they rushed right to them. I was screaming that it’s just a drill but they didn’t hear me from the water. All good tho. Gotta give it to them… Their response was fucking textbook proper.

What else… Teaching has been going well, I’ve been enjoying my classes and I’m trying to get some more for the spring. To keep the cash flow going. Got couple more days of my dad around and some cool plans both for that and for the rest of the week. Pretty exited about all of it. Sending some love to everybody out there. One!
