Semester 14 Chapter VIII: Keep Going

What’s up. Saturday afternoon, new EST Gee blasting out my speakers, I’ve already done some work today, I’ve been to Adeje for a bit, I’ve done some shopping and I’m about to get the hell out as soon as I finish writing this motherfucker. It’s a beautiful day out there and it makes no sense spending it inside. I’m feeling good, energy levels are right, the spirits are high, we’re set.

Last week was pretty much business as usual. For some reason I got quite a lot of cancellations on my classes, which doesn’t really bother me because I still got paid for every single one of them. It just gave me more time to do other things. I had a chance to catch up with some of my favorite people, to listen to some new music and to check out some podcasts. I specifically enjoyed the Lex Fridman podcast with Sam Harris. Although I don’t really like many of his points (specifically his irrational admiration of people like Musk), listening to him speaking on the relationship between actuality and possibility reminded me of how awesome philosophical topics can get. This world is utterly fucked but there’s something about being able to enjoy certain things, asking certain questions and vibing with certain people in certain situations that makes it all worthwhile.

We also spend quite a lot of time with the girl I’m seeing. Drinking beer, driving around, eating out, hanging by the sea… All the pleasant stuff. Yesterday was particularly great. Basically whole day chilling outside, enjoying the weather and cold drinks. Good food, an evening movie… We had a blast.

This morning, I drove her to work, got some coffee, had a nice long call with my sis and then took it back home. I did online check-in for my dad who’s arriving tomorrow morning. Yet another family reunion. It’s gonna be awesome. Hope everyone’s doing okay. I feel happy for my people in Europe. Looks like you guys are finally getting some reasonable weather. Sending love and hugs to everybody out there. You know what time it is. One!

Semester 14 Chapter VII: Sliding Through

What’s good people. Here we go again. I’m writing this in Hemingway CafĂ© in Costa Adeje. Been a while since I’ve been here. In fact, I got up here couple of times throughout my first run on the island. Well, I’m kinda hanging out with a girl who works here so I’m back here. It’s a lovely Saturday morning, I just finished some proofreading for my dad, got some old-school Lil Wayne in the headphones (protect that man at all fucking cost) and I’m feeling good in this motherfucker.

So what I’ve been up to. Last Sunday, I spent with my friend from Adeje. She left the island the day after so it was our last chance to hang out. It was a pretty good day. I took her diving to Abades (it was her first time) and it was fucking awesome. She is super tiny and weights like 40 kilos so I was quite concerned about throwing all that gear on her but she did well and even requested a second dive. Plus she was really good in water, got into it super fast and seemed really comfortable with everything. And we saw a fucking angel shark sleeping at the sea floor. Happy days. After that, we hung out around the town for a bit, then went to Medano for some ice cream and we spent the evening on the top of Costa Adeje watching the sea shore and La Gomera. We had gone to that place plenty of times before and seemed like a good spot to wrap it up. That girl is definitely one of my favorite new people and I hope she’s gonna be okay wherever she goes.

As for the rest of the week, I spent most of the days working and most of the evening hanging outside. Walks, drinks, talks. Actually having a pretty good fucking time. Contrary to what I was expecting these two last months over there to be. On Friday, we ended up going to Siam Park. Now, I’ve been in Tenerife for a minute but I’ve never gone there. The idea had actually never crossed my mind. But since the idea was brought up, I was immediately in. All for new experiences. Now, Siam Park is this huge water park and it’s rather expensive. But it’s fucking fun. You get all sorts of different slides of different shapes and slopes, you get a lazy river flowing through where you can just float and let a slow current carry you, you get a beach to warm up in between. The day was fucking epic. But yeah, the entrance fee is 40EUR, beer is like 4, you pay extra for a locker. They’re milking it. Which is not really a problem; it’s just not something you would do every other week. Totally worth every penny tho. After then, we took it to Cristianos for some veggie burgers and we spent rest of the day chilling, watch a movie and shit like that.

In terms of music, I’ve been on some old-school vibes. I obviously still have new Quavo, Wayne and Raye in heavy rotation but I’m also back to She Will, What You Know and some aged bangers. At the moment, it’s Carter 4. Can’t wait for Carter 6 tho. I also checked the finale of The Last Of Us (great fucking television) and for the first time saw the Yesterday movie. Made me wonder how would Beatles music perform if it was produced today. I’m pretty sure some of the shit (probably not all) would still get global but man. The fact they started off their debut album with “Well, she was just 17/You know what I mean/And the way she looked was way beyond compare…” That’s a fucking instant cancel today. And rightfully so.

Anyways, I’ve been good over there. There are things to do, it’s fun, it’s exciting, life is good. Hope everybody’s well too. Sending love to everybody reading, shout out to my sis, one time for my people… We see each other, you know what time it is. One!

Semester 14 Chapter VI: Breaking Through The Ceiling

Okay, so last week was interesting. First of all, I did some recording. This rap shit is always gonna be fun. There’s something magical about the whole process. Don’t do this too often but every time I get back to it, it feels great. Flow is life.

I also ended up in a super weird thing. I’m not gonna go into details but one of my friends fell victim to a domestic abuse situation and I was kinda helping her out of it. So I basically canceled everything, helped her move out, provided a shelter for couple of days and generally just made sure she’s aight. I was angry as fuck and pretty much ready to do some damage to the motherfucker. Didn’t resort to that eventually but man… Important thing is, she’s okay and hopefully she’s out that whole nonsense. Karma is a bitch, just make sure that bitch beautiful – word to Wayne.

I worked quite a lot too. Apart from teaching, I did some translation work for my pops. Classes are going well, I got a new student, shit’s moving. I had a chance to spend a day with this divemaster intern whom I took to Play San Juan for an evening hangout, and I also pushed myself out for a pretty cool date on Saturday. Vibes are good.

It’s Sunday morning and in about two hours I’m gonna meet with my friend from Adeje. It’s her last day here, so I’m taking her diving and then we gonna spend the rest of the day together chilling. I’m in the middle of my morning workout, sun is just getting up, I feel fucking great. Hope everybody’s well too. Stay safe, keep it positive and don’t entertain bullshit. One!

 Highlights:

  • Working on my karma.
  • New faces.
  • Road trips.

Semester 14 Chapter V: Encore

Okay, gonna sound like broken record here but I wanna give one more shout out to Raye. It’s been a while since I had an album on repeat like that and it’s been a while since I had a crush on a singer like that too. I’m at the point where I’m fucking bouncing around screaming lyrics to basically all of the songs. I’m happy she’s making waves but I still feel the whole thing should be a bit bigger than it is. Pure perfection. I also wanna give some more credit to Quavo for the Greatness single. The song is amazing. RIP Take. With that said, let’s move on to this motherfucker.

Okay so last Monday I was still in Amsterdam. Spent a half of the day working and the other hanging out with my friend. We went for a dinner to this middle-Eastern restaurant, had one more evening talk, said goodbye, I did couple hours of sleep, and shortly before 5am, I was posted up at a bus station to catch a connection to the airport. Everything went smooth and before lunchtime I was back here. Amsterdam was fucking great and I’m already looking forward to get back there. Get high and all the shit I hadn’t done this time around.

Tenerife is still Tenerife. The weather is great and it definitely was a nice change after a month of cold. It’s funny, coming back here feels almost like coming back to a small town in the Czech Republic in a way. Over time, it has lost most of its exotic appeal for me and now it’s just a place a stay at. I’ve had this feeling with different countries and cities before. It’s actually pretty cool. So yeah, feeling good being back here but also fully realizing why I gotta fuck off.

It’s been good getting back to running, it’s been good driving around in Pluto, it’s been good seeing my friend from Adeje again for some movies, walks and chats... And over this weekend, I’m doing an OWD course for this family down in Cristianos. So yeah, being back in water feels pretty good too. I’m trying to be as appreciative about it as possible; I’m aware that this might be the last couple of weeks of diving for some time for me. They have this divemaster intern now who’s pretty cool and fun to hangout with too.

It’s Sunday morning, I got the last day of the diving course ahead of me and I’m feeling good. Wanna send huge thanks to everybody in Europe who made my February epic. My sister, her girl, my nephew, my dad, his partner, my bros in Brno, my bros in Prague, my friends in Vilnius and Amsterdam… Super appreciative about all that shit. Hope y’all having a great time. One!
