Semester 15 Chapter V: Love Is Real

Okay, here we go again. This is my last day in Brno before traveling back to Tenerife. I’m not going for long tho. Just need to sort some shit out, take care of the car, pick up my diving gear and heat up a bit before the winter. Already got the ticket back; it’s gonna be about 5 weeks. Kinda looking forward to the ocean and to some of these old places. Plus I’m pretty happy about staying in Medano which probably the coziest town and the most hip town in the south. It’s Saturday morning, I got new Wayne in the headphones, all is good. Oh, and yesterday, I recorded a new track which I’m pretty happy about. You can check it out here: https://soundcloud.com/taeb31/love-is-real

Back to this shit. Got back from Prague Monday night and then it was back to business. Whole lotta work, whole lotta workout… And I’m back on running too. I can still feel the knee a little but it’s not critical and I can easily do 20km again. And that feels good.

I got a chance to spend some time with my sis and her friend from Prague which was great. I also had an opportunity to reunite with my friend who lives in Vancouver. She came for about two weeks to kick it with her family and friends so we got to do two evenings together along with some of our mutual friends. Shit was great. Grateful for having that in my life and already plotting on my next trip over there. Some legendary shit.

What else… My biking friend sometimes participates in these Friday evening trips around Brno. It’s basically a bunch of cycling enthusiasts meeting up around 5pm and doing 50-70km before heading for their evening beer. I’ve been invited many times over the summer but the stars hadn’t really aligned. This Friday it all fell in place so by 5 I was at the meeting spot. With my vintage bike from the 70s, regular ass t-shirt and some running shorts. Surrounded by people with fucking spaceship bicycles and tailored gear. Felt a bit out of place. The ride was awesome, super intense and I managed to keep up. Got some props afterwards. Guess a motherfucker still in shape… Got a flat tire halfway through but since everybody was equipped for these kinda situations, all got fixed in couple of minutes. 62km in total and a great experience overall.

So yeah… These days I’m thinking about what my next move is going to be. It’s all pretty hazy but I really like the idea of trying out Barcelona for some time. I’m tired of not living in a city and I don’t thing Prague would work for me. And Barcelona has it all. Sea, mountains, culture. Might feel different about it in couple of weeks but so far I’m really digging it. And I’m thinking doing this like February/March. We’ll see. Hope you guys are doing well. Shout out to my cyclists, vegans, hip-hop fiends, hopeless romantics and ravers. It’s all love. One!

Semester 15 Chapter IV: More Tattoos

Hey y’all. Got a some fresh ink on my head which makes me fucking happy. Now my head piece is symmetrical and there’s left to is the middle and the front. Shit’s moving, my tattoo artist is a legend, Prague has been beautiful, we’re all chilling here. It’s Monday morning and I’m at my bro’s apartment. Already did some work and I’m about to do some more before eventually returning to Brno in the evening.

Last week tho. Been feeling great, been on some positive shit, things have been just the way they’re supposed to. Spent some time with my sis, met up with some of my favorite people and on Friday, I went to this techno party. It was me, my usual party plug and couple of his peers. Okay, so there’s this Filtr concept. It’s basically parties that stretch over the club season and change venues. They always bring some cool names and they’re fairly popular. This was the very first one this season and even though it wasn’t really in the city center, by the time we arrived, there was a queue of like 500 people. Never seen shit like that in Brno. Thank god I ended up being on the guest list. No way I would have gone through that. It all felt very Berlin-like. They even tried to apply some sort of face check. Which, based on who ended up entering, was only partially successful. The venue was great tho. Spacious ground floor with a bar, some seating and even some rugs at different spots and smaller rooms for people to melt down. And a huge dark basement where the real shit was going down. I shot myself up somewhere to the stratosphere straight away and enjoyed the whole thing all the way up to like 6am. Made it back home, got some rest, had some food, listened to some rap, and in the evening, I was on my way to Prague. Spent the evening outside hanging out.

Saturday morning, I took it to the tattoo shop where we continued with the piece. About 6 hours, pain was reasonable, the result is epic. In the evening, we got some drinks, some dinner and then I passed out.

These day, I’m planning my November trip to London and Amsterdam (and potentially Berlin) and I’m getting excited about all that too. Everything’s good, vibe is right, spirits are high. Hope y’all doing well too. Shout out to all the readers and all my people. One!

Semester 15 Chapter III: Back To The Drawing Board

Man, life never ceases to amaze me. I do my best not to spill beans in this blog and I’m gonna hold on to this tradition. Let me just say that the last week went completely differently than expected. It’s funny how sometimes you have these ideas, you think you know people and you understand certain situations… And then life just proves you otherwise. Feeling a bit drained at the moment but also happy that some shit is clearer now and we can carry on. No love lost, no love found.

So the last week was a bit weird. I reunited with a girl I met in Tenerife couple of months back and communicated with online throughout summer. We did some cool shit together, explored Brno, saw couple of my people and at the weekend, we visited Budapest. Two days of wandering around, sightseeing and chilling. And it was kinda all good but I dunno… Guess sometimes time apart can do a number on the vibe and everything so it was also kinda weird. We’ll see what the future holds tho. Time to put some pieces back together, right?

Gonna keep this one short. It’s Wednesday morning and it’s just me in the apartment now. Got some cool shit to do this week and I’m looking forward to all of it. Next blog is gonna be a bit longer. I hope y’all doing well too. Keep it up, keep shit positive and do not entertain bullshit. Under any circumstances. Shout out to all my people, I see y’all. One!

Semester 15 Chapter II: Trains & Boats

Hello world, here we go again. Slightly delayed but I’ve been all over the place. Better now than never, right… Summer is back on full blast in the Czech Republic which is fucking awesome. Me catching cold for some fucked up reason is not that awesome but hey… Shit happens. It’s Monday afternoon, I just got back from a lovely walk with the doggo, I got some more ahead of me today… And apart from the running nose, I feel splendid. Let’s get to it then…

Last Monday, I met up with our neighbors. They’re this nice couple with a kid of my nephew’s age. The guy works for the local planetarium and he has arranged some tickets for me in the past couple times. I’d say we go out for a drink about once a year. When the stars align (pun intended). I usually see their son only briefly in the hall and he’s generally pretty shy but this time he got comfortable and I nearly couldn’t shake him off. It was fun.

On Wednesday I met up with my sis who had just got back from her holiday in Ibiza. Partying her ass off, burning money, chasing women… I don’t know… Anyways, the evening was cool, we had some good food and we properly caught up. I really enjoyed Friday too. I was done with all my work quite early so I hopped on my bike and did a solo ride to the town of Blansko. It's like 25km from Brno and there’s this quarry right by railways where people technically shouldn’t swim but the kinda do. It surrounded by rocks and woods and it’s just picturesque. Hadn’t been there in a while. There was almost nobody around, water was refreshing, the whole shit was beautiful. On the way back I stopped by for some veggie ice cream and in the evening I was wandering around the city with some music on. Here and there, it feels great taking some me time.

Saturday early morning, I was heading to the railway station to meet up with my music bro. Oh, I totally recorded some ad-libs for his project last week too. That was fun. Anyways, before 7am we were already on a train to the Vysočina region. We got to Studenec and then walked around 7km to the village of Koněšín. It’s a place I kinda like. When I was a kid, we used to go there for weekends and summers. My memories are a bit bitter-sweet as, apart from gorgeous nature, they’re connected to the family falling apart, my mother losing her shit to booze and all that fun stuff. It’s also a place where we got our first doggo and where we buried him some 17 years after. It’s a lot. I still like to go to the area once in a while. I know it pretty well and there’s something to it for sure. We stayed in this ceramic workshop complex owned by my dad’s friend. It’s also a pub and hostel. And we wasted no time. At 10am we were already on a scheduled boat on the local water reservoir (Dalešická přehrada) on our way to Dalašice. They have this iconic brewery over there and they have some alcohol-free beer on tap. Yay! After that we hiked all the way back, took a swim somewhere in the middle and made it back sometime in the evening. Almost 30km of walking, great weather, nice little bromance.

Sunday morning we were on our way back to the station and by lunchtime we were in Brno. Met up with sis and nephew, grabbed some lunch and later on in the afternoon met up with my sis again, this time in front of this tiny cinema (Lucerna) to finally check Oppenheimer. I got a lotta respect for Nolan and I enjoyed every minute of that fucking movie.

And that brings us to today. I’ve done some work, spent some time outside, had lunch with dad… And in the evening my gf is arriving to Brno. Been ages since we’ve seen each other so I’m pretty excited about that. Hope y’all have a good time and your lives are stress-free. One!

Highlights:

  • Quarries.
  • Reservoirs.
  • We saved a kitty. In the middle of fields, meowing its ass off on a tree. Couldn’t get down. We helped it out, it was following us for good 30 mins and then it disappeared in one of the gardens in the village. Which was great because we honestly had no idea what to do with it.

Semester 15 Chapter I: Lucy In The Fields With Moonlight

Hey y’all. Here we are. I’m kicking off the 15th semester of this magnum opus. August is over, we’re slowly moving towards fall and before I get any further, I’d like to take a moment to appreciate this year. It’s been a fucking ride. Tenerife, Vilnius, Amsterdam, Brno, Prague, Krakow, Vancouver… And there’s more to come. After some years, I decided to to spend some more time home and I’ve been really enjoying it. See, I still don’t feel ready relocating back to the Czech Republic long-term anytime soon but it’s been refreshing just sticking around not feeling the pressure of leaving shortly. Got about one more month before moving back to Tenerife and I’m getting excited about that too. Overall, time has flown like a motherfucker. Guess that’s what happens when shit is fun and everything moves. So shout out to everyone who’s been a part of any of this. Been having a blast.

As for the last week… Monday, I went out to join my dad’s trivia once more. Just to routinely remind myself of all the areas I completely lack knowledge in. Mission fucking accomplished. Dad’s team still won tho as they often do so it was all good. Rest of the week was relatively calm. Wednesday, I met up with a friend for a drink. Outside of that, I kept it low. Just work and my usual regime.

There’s been plans for the weekend tho. Friday afternoon, me and one of my bros jumped into a car and went to my dad’s partner’s cottage. Same one I spent the weekend at like two weeks ago for that family session. Our objective was basically to trip the fuck out, talk and reboot. Which is exactly what we’ve done. I had a chance to spend some time in the woods just appreciating nature and fresh air… I generally feel that being exposed to pure nature feels better with each passing year. It just works; everything about it. Maybe it’s an age thing, maybe it’s the ability to acknowledge complexity, elegance and uniqueness of the whole set-up… Dunno. But walking, running or cycling surrounded by all that greenery just hits different. Oh and Friday night, the moon was so bright, you could easily walk outside with no torch. Shit looked magical.

It’s Sunday morning, I’m still out in the country drinking some fresh coffee and watching the world wake up. Might be a bit more outdoors today and then it’s back to Brno and back to the responsibilities. Since it’s September again, I expect some more work coming up. Hope everybody’s enjoyed their summer, hope y’all good and everything’s going just the way you want it to. One!
