Semester 12 Chapter XX: Decompressing

Hello everybody! We’re basically halfway through the summer… Time flies. It’s another Sunday morning, I got Future spitting some toxic shit in my headphones, I’m in the middle of my resistance bands workout and I got a day off ahead off me with no idea what to do with it. All is good tho so without further ado, let’s get to this thing…

Last week was kinda quiet on all fronts. I didn’t dive the whole week with the exception of yesterday. Overall, I’m a bit surprised by it. I expected the summer to be totally insane over here. I expected getting so much inquiries I’d be forced saying no to some. Not really tho. Well, yesterday I did some DSDs at Vistas. Enjoyed it. I also met up with this girl from another dive shop over the week to discuss possible cooperation. I’d really appreciate being in water a bit more often.

I also planned my September visit to Europe to check my teeth and get some ink. Was kinda waiting for my girls in Montenegro to get in touch to figure out if I’m doing that or nah. Well, turns out I am. Getting reasonably priced plane tickets was a bit of a headache but after like 90 minutes at the computer I figured it out. So September, I’m spending about a week in the Czech Republic following by couple of days in Balkans.

On Tuesday, I took Pluto and went to Granadilla, a town about 15km away, to do another of my exploratory hikes. I picked this El Pinar spot which turned out to be a pretty interesting hike through rural areas, small villages and eventually some hills with farms and shit. Not the best hike I’ve done here but pretty good.

Weather has been warming up so runs under the sun are real calories burner at this point. And everything else has been going good too. Teaching, workouts, mediation… All that. Haven’t been really social but sometimes it’s needed to take a deep breath and re-calibrate. Hope you guys are doing well too. One!

Highlights:

  • Running.
  • Anderson Paak, Domi, JD Beck – Take a Chance. What a fucking song.
  • Succession. Started watching that and having quite a lot of fun with it.

Semester 12 Chapter XIX: Down Where The Souls Are At

Okay, I wanna start with appreciating Toby Nwigwe, a Texas rapper that has developed such a dope aesthetic, it’s been blowing my mind for some time. I got his last single Been Broke on repeat. Plus he brought Koopa from retirement for that one, which makes me super happy too. So yeah, check it out. Also, last week, I recorded a bit of a freestyle myself after some time and thew it online. So if you’re into that type of shit, you can my new raps here

Last week, I did whole bunch of very pleasant meet ups with some awesome people. Lotta positivity, lotta good energy, lotta good moments. I was also quite busy with diving. Still all DSDs but it’s all good…. Work is work. Did one for my main shop and three for the shop I started with ages ago. About to do another one today. Oh, and I totally saw that massive ray at Vistas I saw couple weeks back. That creature is magnificent.

Yesterday, I went to get some veggies to Las Charifas to the wet market and in the afternoon, I went to Cristianos to hangout with a friend. She wanted to do a beach day so I took her to Tejita close to Medano which seemed like a pretty good idea until we got there. The wind was absolutely nuts so we turned it around and spent the afternoon at Vistas. We proceeded to some beers after, had some lovely convos, enjoyed a nice day and generally were on very pleasant frequencies. One of those days…

So yeah… Been on some rap shit, been on some work shit… Got a new student last week, got some people in diving, kept my workout game straight. Feeling good kinda busy. It’s Sunday morning, I got some more rap in the headphones and some cool plans for the day mapped out. I hope y’all good and y’all energy levels aight. Love to everybody out there. One!

Highlights:

  • Music.
  • Connections.
  • Beach Day.

Semester 12 Chapter XVIII: I Need Some Mediation So I Can Lead My People

Okay, I’m 35 now. Fucking 35. That’s it… That’s the whole statement. At this point, shit just gets a bit more confusing. I’m still out here catching vibes, figuring my shit out, running from or towards something, trying to keep my shit together… Basically the same shit I’ve been on since forever. And yeah, I feel better in my own skin now, I see a bit clearer, I walk taller, I don’t entertain bullshit for the most part… So some things have improved. But it’s still a mess. And I guess that’s life. All is good… I’m just still getting used to the fact I get to hangout with people who are like 16 years younger than me and have adult conversation with them. Shit gives me vertigo sometimes…

Last week I did some cool hangouts with people. Shout out to all of you! My highlight was supposed to be yesterday, my actual birthday, which I never celebrate. However, this time around they announced another rave exactly on that date and I was totally down for that. When I got there around midnight tho, there were cops threatening they gonna confiscate everything including sound system and shit if they don’t stop. So the organizers had to shut the whole shit down. Bit of a disappointment but I guess you can charge it to the game. I still wanna send love to the guys, cause they do some amazing shit down here… And I’m looking forward to their next gig. So yeah, my b-day ended up being calm and relaxed as usual.

For a bit, I hung out with this girl recently and her talking about mediation and shit finally pushed me to do something in that regard too. So for the past five days, I’ve been doing morning guided meditation. Still in beginner stages, but I like what it does to my energy levels. Since I wake up stupidly early and I totally have time to squeeze this into my schedule, I’ll try to stay on it. I’m on some breathing zoning out shit and I’ll see where it takes me.

I also took Pluto to the shop again. See, couple of days ago it started making weird sounds and for some time I was convinced it’s just some shit in the trunk. So I cleared it up but it wouldn’t stop. And when I finally looked under the car, I noticed that the exhaust pipe is totally lose. To tell the truth, I feel I got kinda lucky it didn’t fly off somewhere on the highway. The fix was fast and cheap and Pluto is back on its bullshit.

When it comes to diving, there’s not too much work. I did three diving days. One DSD, final day of an OWD course and one try dive for my friend’s shop in Medano. That was my first time diving for them and it was kinda fun. Hopefully, I’ll get some more gigs with them in the future. Everybody seems to a bit suprised about the level of tourism these days. Way more people were expected around. Might be covid coming back, might be the crisis hitting people hard… It can still change tho…

Outside of all this, I went to get my fist haircut in Guargacho. My regular guy is not available at the moment, so I had to go elsewhere. The lady did a good job and charged me like 10 EUR. Good experience. And I’ve been working, exercising, checking new music and some series. The good stuff. Sending some love to everybody reading and to all my people. One!

Highlights:

  • Mediation.
  • Got stopped by the cops while driving. They didn't ask me for a license, they didn't ask me to step out of vehile. They asked me if I did drugs od alcohol before driving, I laughed and said no, and they let me go. The most pointless check I've ever experienced so far.
  • Westside Boogie – Stuck. On Repeat.

Semester 12 Chapter XVII: It Ain’t No Vibe If It Takes Effort

Hello world, your boy is checking back in from the town of Guargacho… Tenerife South in the house, we got some rap in the headphones, we got some coffee on the table, it’s still dark outside. I like this. My organism usually wakes up in the middle of the night and some time ago I stopped fighting it. I just go with it, listen to some music, have a snack and then go get some more sleep. So it’s one of these nights. Anyways… I hope everybody is well. Let’s get to it tho…

Last week was nice. I did some running, I did whole lotta workouts, I wrote some raps and I took whole bunch of walks. On Monday I had a really great hangout at 33 Vueltas. Hadn’t been there in a really long time. Good talks, good energy, good vibes. The day after I went to Los Abrigos and believe it or not, there’s a Czech owned ice cream shop over there selling whole bunch of vegan flavors. Good shit.

Diving has been quite slow. I was on an OWD course with this 11 year-old. Now, kids are usually quite fun to teach. They are full of energy, they don’t overthink shit, they want to know everything and they are often so excited, you have to drag them out of water. Not this guy tho. He’s almost like a prototype of a generation fucked by technology. Didn’t really seem he wanted to do the course in the first place, everything was heavy, everything was uncomfortable, everything was cold… The most frequent question was when do we finish so he can get back to playing Fortnight. Not entirely sure whose idea was it to do the course but I assume it wasn’t his. One of these. Well, we still did something and hopefully, we’ll finish it all tomorrow. But yeah… Not much of real diving last week.

I treated myself on Saturday tho. In the morning, I went to the wet market in Las Charifas to re-up on my veggies and then I took the Pluto and drove it up the a small village of Las Vegas. See, many trails start over there and I found one I wanted to do. It lead to Risco Del Muerto, I did around 15km overall and it was beautiful. I was walking in and out of clouds, the air was clean, nature was amazing. There’s just something so right and peaceful being surrounded by greenery. It’s like something connects to your primal self in the most effortless way. After the hike, I went to Medano where I got myself a new bucket hat (my sister hates those so I can’t wait for her to see that one), grabbed some ice cream, and then I took it back home. Finished the season 4 of Stranger Things, went for another walk with some new music one. Pretty great day.

So yeah, I got Sunday in front of me, I’m supposed to do another meet-up, I wanna check some music, gonna teach a class in the afternoon. All is good. Sending some love to everybody out there. And shout out to my Russian readers. No idea who you are but you went a bit crazy on the blog last week. One!

Highlights:

  • Stranger Things.
  • The hike.
  • The vibes.
