Semester 20 Chapter IV: Choirs

What’s good, what’s bad, whose fault, who cares… Here we go! Another one on the deck, let’s get to it. First of all, another update on my Malaysian adventure. Last Friday, I got notified that I was entitled to cancel my tickets with Qatar free of charge. Now, there’s still a slim chance that some of these flights go next week but the situation is completely chaotic, shitty and it seems that the whole region has entered some Afghanistan scenario. Anyways, after some thinking I decided to indeed cancel those and got myself another set with Turkish Airlines. About twice as expensive so I feel I’m owed couple hundred euros by Trump administration at the moment. The important thing is that the problem is solved tho and unless somebody decides it’s a great idea to bomb Istanbul, nothing should come in the way between me and this little mission of mine. Departing next Friday.

What else… Last Friday, me and bro went to a Czech rap concert. Now, I had not been to one in fucking ages. Don’t really follow Czech rap, most of it is wannabe gangsta money making trash, some of it is guys singing to Gen-Z and I’m just way too old for any of that shit. However, there’s this rapper I used to listen to when I was about 20 years younger. He and his partner pretty much revolutionized the scene back then. Now he’s 40+ and after years of nothing much he’s released 2 consecutive albums which are just awesome. Adult, self-reflective, therapeutic… With a pinch of assholeness. And trust me, it resonates. So we hit this small venue and on the way to the concert hall, we stopped by at a stall where the guy was selling some of his music and merch. It was cool chopping it up for a bit and giving some well deserved props. I got myself a t-shirt. Not because I needed one but because I felt like supporting. The show itself was great. Great rapping, funny, flowing between light, stupid and deep. I was smiling ear to ear most of the time. The whole shit brought back so many memories. So shout out James Cole, shout out Idea… You guys have done something really cool and I hope you’ll keep it rolling.

Saturday, I did some morning yoga and then I caught a bus to Prague. See, there was a demonstration scheduled in the city. The whole point was to express dissatisfaction with the government. With oligarchy, with attempts to control public media, with fascists getting more powerful, with pro-Russian tendencies of many of our leaders. And it was massive. Between 200k – 250k people showed up. Never been in a crowd this big. It was extremely well organized, it was not aggressive, there were many good speakers… To me, the highlight was the speech delivered by the organizer. He said that even though it was nice for all of us to gather, that shit is not enough anymore. It’s not enough to say that this guy is bad and that guy sucks. And then go home. People need to get active in their communities, people need to start joining political parties, we all need to start operate publicly. Which is exactly how I feel and I have some things mapped out for this year. He was also pretty critical towards the opposition. We can’t be reactive only. We have to be pro-active. Clear alternatives need to be articulated, we need to address real issues in a digestable way and we need to stop the divide. At the end of the day, the problem is wealth inequality, housing crisis and ultra-rich controlling everything from politicians to media. And once we all agree on that, we can start a conversation on what to do with it. After about 2 hours, the whole things was wrapped up by everybody singing the Czech anthem. And let me tell you… Singing a song along with 200k+ people feels powerful. Kudos to everybody over there and best of luck to all of us!

I spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with my people in the city and Sunday evening, I was on my way back to Brno. The week has been super busy but I managed to squeeze in all the important things. Yoga, running, workout and even some swimming yesterday. Followed by dinner and some drinks with the guys. Oh, and since I was cat-sitting for my sis once more, I fucking finished that Mafia game. Which marks the first time me finishing a video game since about 2014. Go me! I also went to the citema for a documentary about Hungarian independent media on Monday. It mapped gradual destruction of free specch in the country, it was very well done and for many reasons, it was very relatable to what is happening in our country now. They screened it as part of a documetary festival Jeden svět (One World) which was taking place in Brno for a couple of days.

Anyways, it’s Saturday morning, I’m bumping the new Baby Keem, I have finished my workout, did a 15-minute meditation (trying to incorporate that some more these days) and I’m about to hit my yoga studio. Energy is right in this motherfucker. Hope you guys are well. Keep it light, keep it positive and don’t let them fuck with your inner light. And go vegan. One!

Semester 20 Chapter III: Old Country

What’s good everybody, here we fucking go. It’s Friday early morning, sun is shining, I’m in the middle of my workout, all is well. Been about a week so it’s time to do this thing again. Shout out to all the readers. Been getting crazy number on this blog recently (on my standards) so whoever you guys are, I see you. Feel free to hit me up!

These past couple of days have been fast. I do have a lot of work on my table so I’m mostly focused on that. I’m also checking Qatar Airways updates regularly. They have resumed some limited operations globally and I just hope that soon enough I’ll get a memo on what the fuck is going to happen with my journey. It’s set to take place in less than two weeks. So far, everything still green, active and confirmed in their system. So yeah, hopefully…

Last weekend was cool. I did my usual combination of yoga, running and working out, and I also threw some swimming in. 2km at that 50m swimming pool. Felt good. Saturday evening, me and the old-timers took it to a theater nearby for a play followed by an auction which was basically a fundraiser for Ukraine. It was cool being there, had some nice talks, the event was a success.

Oh, and since my sister was on holiday with her partner and since I was appointed a pet-sitter for their cats, I spent some time at their spot. And since sis works in gaming, she has a Playstation 5. So I devoted quite some time to playing the new Mafia game which I almost finished. It’s crazy how time flies out of the window when you get into it. Really cool game but man… So happy gaming is not my thing. Not remotely enough time in a day to attend to that….

I have a pretty eventful weekend ahead and I’m really looking forward to all of it. The world is still a crazy place and with each passing day I feel more and more certain that I do have to start being more politically active this year. Just observing this ain’t enough anymore. Hope you guys are well. Keep it light, keep it positive, don’t entertain bullshit and don’t let them fuck with your inner light. One!

Semester 20 Chapter II: Sore Legs

Okay, here we go again. Recently, we’ve had couple of cases of public figures doing technically questionable shit in our country. Our president has repeatedly refused to swear in a minister nominee submitted by the prime minister which goes against our constitutional habits. Furthermore, one of the most prolific TV hosts on Czech Television has recently resigned after being forced to have a leader of one of our fascist parties on his show. He did it live right after the debate. And I got just one thing to say about all of this. The fact that some people decide to do any of that does not mean they want to show support to the opposition. Not anymore. I see these things as symbolic gestures. Did the president manage to stop fascists and oligarchs running this country? No. Did the TV host manage to prevent these fuckers from coming on TV and spewing hate and lies? Also no. They just drew a line they felt was appropriate and did what they could given their stature. These specific individuals (in their opinion) represent something that has no place in free world and democracy. Those people are incompetent, openly homophobic, misogynistic and… let’s call a spade a spade… fascist. So no, this ain’t about left or right anymore. This is about some basic fucking humanity. And we’re losing it. And although you can question technical aspects here… And rightfully so... The battle is really happening between fascism and non-fascism at the moment. And we have to look at it like that.

Back to this shit tho. My trip to Malaysia is still surrounded by question marks. My tickets are still in the system, they are confirmed and the airline still sells that route. So I guess they are pretty optimistic. At the moment, they are carefully reopening the airspace above the region but regular scheduled flights are still off. Gonna wait for another 10 days tops and if it looks bad, I’ll try to find an alternative route. I really don’t feel like giving this up.

Apart from the usual, I had a pretty active weekend. Started it Saturday morning with some yoga and followed it by a bike ride with one of my friends. We ended up doing around 75km. Weather was beautiful, ride was great. Using the bike I imported form The Hague and it’s going well. Sunday morning, I joined the same guy and his running club for the first time. That turned out to be a 25km run. Nice people, great views and yet again, awesome weather. In the evening, I felt done. Parked it to the sauna and called it a weekend.

So there you have it. It’s a full spring mode out there, I did another run today, feeling good in this motherfucker. Hope you guys are doing well, too. Keep it light, keep it positive, don’t entertain bullshit and don’t let them fuck with your inner light. Love and peace to the people in Iran. One!

Semester 20 Chapter I: Demons Dancing

Fuck it, we’re on the 20th spin here. Feels fucking incredible. Honestly. Thinking about this blog, I sometimes see this long-ass reel of flashes. I don’t got shit many of my peers have. No house, no kids, no family, no stability of that sort. But I have seen a lot. And there are some moments engraved inside of my skull I would not change for anything. This is a really small project I keep fueling on regular basis but I’m happy I established it back then and I’m also happy some of you find it interesting enough to check back in once in a while. So yeah, we’re on the 20th semester, spring is kicking in, vibes are good, let’s get to it. And shout out to everybody. It’s all love.

I’m not gonna dive deep into Iran because I just can’t. Yeah, the regime was absolutely nightmarish and yeah, I do hope the country finds some peace after all this but I’m just not seeing that. And I hate the precedent it sets. Iran was ran by cynical imbeciles with god complex ready to kill their own people by thousands at the first sign of insurgence but so is Saudi Arabia. And many other buddies of USA. And how the fuck is Israel, a country that has been committing genocide for the past couple of years, the good guy here. Who gets to decide that? Trump? Is that where we are? God fucking help us all…

I’m supposed to fly to Malaysia in about a month and you would not guess which company I’ve bought my tickets with. Yeah, it’s Qatar. So I’m pretty curious whether I fly anywhere. Granted, this situation is not about me and I’m not really losing sleep over it but it’s just a teeny tiny personal layer on top of all this madness. My thoughts go out to the people in Iran and the whole region. I do hope somebody has a real plan over there and all of this shit will be over soon. With something else than some military dictatorship prevailing. USA has a terrible track record when it comes to anything even remotely related to this.

My life tho… Not gonna hold you for too long. It’s been lotta work and all the usual. Staying fit, living the healthy life. Last Friday, I went to this techno party which was fun. Managed not to get completely fucked so Saturday around noon, I felt good enough to hop on my bike and go to hang with one of my bros just outside of Brno. Spent a night over there, did some more cycling the day after and wrapped the whole weekend up with some yoga. Everything fell in place. I also went swimming with a friend on Monday. After a pretty long break. It was fun, it went smooth and I’m planning to start doing this a bit more regularly.

It’s a lovely Thursday morning, weather is beautiful out there and runs are getting more and more fun. I hope you guys are good. Keep it light, keep it positive, don’t entertain bullshit and don’t let them fuck with your inner light. One!
